This is a translation of "The Policeman's Ball" by Donald Barthelme. I struggled desperately with this story, which is so good in its original English-language version and suffers considerably for my attentions. What I found even more difficult than preserving the moods in my Spanish writing, though, was relating them out loud. One of my big weaknesses in all of these recordings is a failure to properly measure and time paragraph pauses, particularly with a sensitivity to the material and the proper attitude of conveyance.
